| Category | Weight | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Reputation | 25 | 0 to 10 |
| Credentials and Licensing | 25 | 0 to 10 |
| Track Record | 15 | 0 to 10 |
| Local Market Strength | 15 | 0 to 10 |
| Service Capability | 10 | 0 to 10 |
| Consumer Trust | 10 | 0 to 10 |
The arithmetic is min(97.0, round(2.5 times Customer Reputation + 2.5 times Credentials + 1.5 times Track Record + 1.5 times Local Market Strength + Service Capability + Consumer Trust, 1)).
Customer Reputation. One star rating and the review count that goes with it. The Bayesian prior is 2.0 stars at a weight of 17 reviews: (n times R + 17 times 2.0) / (n + 17). The category score is that average times 2, capped at 10. A nominal rating with no published count scores twice the stars minus 0.2. A company with no rating scores 0.
Credentials and Licensing. A printed state license number scores 5. Licensed with no number printed scores 3. QualityPro scores 2. GreenPro scores 2. ACE scores 2. Each other named credential in the formula (NPMA, NEPMA, LEED, Sentricon, Green Shield, EPA, Bird Barrier) scores 1. The sum caps at 10.
Track Record. Confirmed years: blank scores 0, 1 year scores 1, 2 to 4 years score 4, 5 to 9 score 6, 10 to 14 score 8, and 15 or more score 10. Active customers, recurring-plan rate, and average tenure are Verified-tier fields. They do not have a separate 0 to 10 conversion.
Local Market Strength. 2 points for each named town in that market, capped at 10.
Service Capability. Count services the company's own site names, out of 14 (general pest, ants, cockroaches, spiders, rodents, termites, mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, stinging insects, bed bugs, wildlife, commercial, residential). Score = round(10 times confirmed / 14, 1).
Consumer Trust. Satisfaction guarantee scores 4. No long-term contract scores 4. A recurring plan scores 2. A cancellation policy scores 2. The sum caps at 10. An unconfirmed warranty scores 0.
Completeness counts eight fields: star rating, review count, years in business, state license status, a named certification or an explicit none, named places, guarantee or contract terms including an explicit not confirmed, and named services including an explicit absence. Eight filled fields are 100 percent. Seven are 88 percent. HIGH starts at 90 percent.
Verified companies sort first. A Verified company has connected an operating system or another data source, and Solvo structures that data and keeps it updated. Inside a tier, the higher Solvo Score ranks first.
The score arithmetic stays the same when a company connects an operating system. The connection changes the tier, and the tier sorts the ranking. On the Boston Metro hub, GreenHow at 93.4 (Verified) sorts above Braman Termite & Pest Elimination at 95.5 (HIGH) for that reason.
The six weights stay the same across trades. Pest control uses the checklist above and the Pest Control Verification Standard. A roofing standard is not published.
Solvo uses the company page that names a town or a service, the review platform named on the ranking row (Google, Yelp, Birdeye, Facebook, or Angi), a state license number when the record prints one, and a connected operating system for the Verified tier. A field counts when the page records a sourced value, including a sourced statement that the value is absent.
A blank field stays blank. Solvo does not estimate a missing rating, a missing year, or a missing license number. Cape Cod and Boston scores that were already published stay as published. The formula file lists the exceptions those older scores contain.
No company pays for a higher Solvo Score or a higher position. A company can connect a data source. Solvo structures that data and keeps it updated. The connection places the company in the Verified tier, which sorts first. The score still uses the formula on this page.
This page names a ranked company when the repository records that company as a Solvo client. The repository contains no such record as of October 20, 2026.
